Central Virginia Community College offers two options to obtain a motorcycle license in Virginia. Upon successful completion of each course, students are provided a Virginia license waiver to be taken to the Division of Motor Vehicles for endorsement purposes.
Option 1- BRC
The Basic Rider Course (BRC) is a complete Entry-Level, learn-to-ride class. This 15-hour course consists of online and on-motorcycle instruction. Riders will learn basic skills of motorcycle operation and safe riding strategies under controlled range condition. The emphasis is on foundational riding techniques and basic controls using CVCC provided motorcycles.
Option 2 – BRC 2
The BRC2 is for individuals desiring to obtain their motorcycle license who currently OWN a street legal motorcycle and are ACTIVE motorcycle riders. Designed for individuals currently riding Virginia roadways WITHOUT a motorcycle license. This ONE-day course is NOT for beginning riders nor for individuals who do not own their own motorcycle. The emphasis is on mastering foundational riding techniques and basic controls.
