CVCC offers a range of scholarships, including need-based awards, Student Ambassador, and CAPS scholarships, to support students on their academic journey. These opportunities help reduce financial barriers, encourage leadership, and promote academic excellence.
The Student Success Fund provides emergency aid to CVCC students in crisis, covering essentials like food, housing, and transportation. Working with a Community Connections Coordinator, the Foundation offers resources such as a food pantry, faculty referrals, and support fund guidance to help students stay on track.
Alumni Shape CVCC's Legacy
William ‘Eddie’ Amos, DCS, a renowned technology leader and visionary in software development and organizational transformation, served as CVCC’s commencement speaker for the 56th graduation ceremony on May 15, 2024. Dr. Amos credits his educational journey to CVCC for sparking his lifelong pursuit of learning and technological innovation. His leadership spans roles at companies including General Electric and Microsoft, and he currently serves as Chairman of GO Virginia Region 2, driving job creation and economic revitalization.
Dr. Muriel B. Mickles retired vice president of academics, students, and workforce development, was honored with the 18th Annual Chancellor’s Award for Leadership in Philanthropy in April 2024. For 52 years Dr. Mickles has been an integral part of CVCC, and a fervent advocate for the betterment of individuals and communities alike. Her commitment to student success is unwavering and led her to establish the Muriel B. Mickles Student Support Fund. With an investment of over $75,000 to date, the fund will benefit CVCC students who face exceptional financial hardship that could impact their continued enrollment. Thank you, Dr. Mickles, for continuing to live your values and creating a legacy to help students when they need it the most.
